Hirt's Madagascar Jasmine Plant - Stephanotis - Bridal Wreath - 4" Pot

The Madagascar jasmine is a vine with twining growth habit so you need to provide a support for it.

Decorating your garden arbor is a difficult task. There are so many different plants to choose from, and each is seemingly just as beautiful as the last. Then there are considerations about the plant itself, such as if the plant is right for your unique space. One of the most popular plants for people to include in their garden areas is jasmine, and you may be wondering if this particular plant is suitable for your space. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Different Species.

There are over 200 different species of jasmine available to choose from, and this will be a key factor for you as you try to determine if this is the right plant for your space. You will want to spend time researching a few unique species of the plant rather than the plant in general. While they all are generally the same, there are a few key differences between them in terms of what type of environment they like, how large they grow, and so forth. One big difference is that some of these plants are deciduous and others are evergreen.

The jasmine blooms are truly fragrant and beautiful, but if you are not familiar with this plant, you may be surprised by the fact that the plant blooms in the evening hours. If you enjoy spending time in your garden in the late morning or afternoon hours, you may find that you don't get quite as much enjoyment out of this plant as someone who is a night owl or an early bird. If enjoying fragrant, colorful blooms is one of your criteria, you will definitely want to keep this in mind along with your own regularly gardening and outdoor hours. The blooms, however, are generally white in hue, so they look great in just about every yard.

Climbing Vine.

Jasmine is a climbing vine, so it is great for arbors with a trellis. The vine climbs by wrapping its stems around whatever it reaches. This makes it a great choice for a variety of arbors and trellis types. Other plants may prefer netting, lattice work with slats placed a certain width apart, and so forth, but this is a versatile plant that can thrive with any type of arbor that it can wrap its stems around.

It certainly is a great idea to really weigh the pros and cons that a certain plant comes with before you plant it into your backyard. There are some key considerations you will want to know about before you plant jasmine. This is a widely popular plant that so many people get tremendous enjoyment out of having in their yards and caring for, but it isn't for everyone. If you decide that this is the plant you want to adorn your arbor with, you will certainly get plenty of enjoyment out of it. Keep in mind that the blooms can also be used for decorating the interior of your homes as well as for making the ever-popular tea drink by the same name.
